Job Summary

The Communications Lead is responsible for developing and delivering clear, engaging communications that support WCG’s business priorities, culture, and brand. This role contributes to a broad range of corporate communications initiatives, including internal communications, executive messaging, thought leadership, earned media support, organizational announcements, and content for employee communication channels. As an individual contributor, the Communications Lead translates complex business topics into meaningful, audience-focused messages and helps ensure communications are timely, consistent, credible, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Working closely with partners across Marketing, Human Resources, Commercial, Operations, Technology, and other business functions, the Communications Lead plans, writes, edits, and publishes content that informs, engages, and drives understanding across the organization. The role requires strong editorial judgment, project management skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The accountabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

Support internal communications and employee storytelling: 

  • Create, edit, and publish clear, engaging content for internal channels, including intranet articles, newsletters, leader messages, organizational announcements, and employee updates. 
  • Help manage editorial calendars and communication plans that align to business priorities, employee moments, enterprise initiatives, and major company updates. 
  • Translate complex topics into employee-relevant stories that explain what is changing, why it matters, and what employees need to know or do next. 
  • Own/publish the weekly newsletter by identifying stories, drafting short articles, coordinating inputs, and maintaining a consistent voice and cadence. 

 

Advance external storytelling and earned media: 

  • Support proactive media relations, including identifying story angles, drafting pitches, researching reporters and outlets, and helping secure earned media opportunities that elevate WCG’s expertise. 
  • Partner with subject-matter experts and leaders to develop thought leadership content, bylined article ideas, interview prep, talking points, and messaging that support WCG’s external positioning. 
  • Monitor relevant industry news, competitor activity, and media opportunities to inform communications planning and help identify timely ways for WCG to participate in the conversation. 
  • Assist with press releases, external announcements, speaking opportunity materials, and other reputation-building communications; own tracking, recommending, and coordinating submissions for relevant industry awards. 
  • Support thought leaders and subject-matter experts with peer-reviewed journal submissions and other academically oriented content opportunities, including organizing submission materials, coordinating review inputs, tracking deadlines, and navigating structured submission and review processes. 

 

Contribute to executive communications and major company moments: 

  • Provide drafting, editing, research, and coordination support for executive communications, including leader messages, talking points, Q&A, briefing materials, and internal updates. 
  • Assist with communications for town halls, leadership updates, organizational changes, acquisitions, integrations, divestitures, executive transitions, and other high-visibility initiatives, with room to take on greater ownership over time. 
  • Help prepare accurate, well-organized inputs that support clear, aligned messaging, including background research, stakeholder notes, draft outlines, and follow-up materials. 
  • Develop familiarity with executive-level communications by supporting the planning, review, and execution process while building judgment around tone, timing, confidentiality, and stakeholder impact. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered. 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE/REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS: None

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Two to four years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, corporate communications, internal communications, journalism, or a related writing-focused role. 
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adjust tone and format for different audiences and channels. 
  • Some experience drafting employee communications, articles, newsletters, social content, media pitches, press releases, or executive/leader communications. 
  • Interest in building media relations and earned media experience, including researching reporters, identifying story angles, drafting pitches, and supporting thought leadership opportunities. 
  • Strong project coordination skills, including the ability to manage deadlines, gather input from multiple stakeholders, and keep work moving across teams. 
  • Good judgment, professionalism, and discretion, especially when working with sensitive business updates, leadership communications, or confidential information. 
  • A natural curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn; this role is a good fit for someone who wants to grow into broader corporate communications and external storytelling responsibilities over time.

Pay Range

USD $52,470.00 - USD $81,500.00 /Yr.
